What is a long range fuel tank?

A long range fuel tank can either be a larger capacity factory tank replacement or an auxiliary tank. These types of tanks are used to add extra fuel storage to a vehicle—typically a truck, SUV, or off-road vehicle. It's designed to increase the vehicle's range between refueling stops by providing extra fuel capacity beyond the stock fuel tank.

What are the advantages of auxiliary tanks?

Auxiliary tanks extend fuel storage capacity, valuable for long trips, off-road travel, or remote areas with limited fuel access. They significantly increase your vehicle's range, sometimes by more than 2x.

Are there any downsides to installing a long range tank?

Long range fuel tanks can add weight to the vehicle, but for the most part in a stock vehicle, the addition of an auxiliary fuel tank will not change its handling or performance. That being said, when looking at a complete vehicle build-out for car camping or overland travel, all added weight should be considered in selecting the proper suspension and braking set up. It's important to choose a reputable manufacturer and installer in order to ensure proper installation, functionality, and safety.

How is an auxiliary tank connected to the vehicle's fuel system?

Our auxiliary tanks seamlessly integrate with your vehicle's existing fuel system. Equipped with a fuel transfer system, you control when and how fuel is transferred between the auxiliary and main tanks, optimizing fuel use.

Can I switch between using fuel from the main tank and the auxiliary tank?

Yes and no; the auxiliary tank is used to transfer fuel from the auxiliary tank to the main tank on demand. Your factory fuel system will remain intact and your engine will always pull fuel from your factory sending unit.

What types of vehicles are your tanks compatible with?

We offer long range auxiliary fuel tanks for a range of Ford, Jeep, Lexus, Toyota, INEOS, and other vehicle models. For specifics, review product specifications to ensure compatibility with your vehicle. You can also contact us to confirm specific fitment with your vehicle.

Will adding an auxiliary tank affect my vehicle's warranty?

It's possible that installing an aftermarket long range fuel tank could impact your vehicle's warranty, especially if the installation is not done correctly. It's important to check your vehicle's warranty documentation and consult with the manufacturer or dealership before making modifications.

Can I install a replacement tank myself?

While experienced individuals might be able to install their own tanks, we strongly recommend professional installation. This ensures correct integration with your vehicle's fuel system and maintains Long Range America’s warranties.

Do you offer warranties on replacement and auxiliary tanks?

Yes, we provide warranties on our products to assure your peace of mind. For more information on our warranty and instructions on warranty registration, visit https://longrangeamerica.com/warranty
