I had the LRA 33-gallon replacement tank installed on my 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road on 8/14/26. Rather than review it immediately, I tracked four fuel cycles through 9/15/26 to see how it performed in real-world use, particularly the fuel gauge, Distance to Empty (DTE), and actual range. Over those four cycles, I drove 1,425.7 miles and added 81.086 gallons, for a combined calculated average of 17.58 MPG. My longest documented cycle was 483.9 miles, after which the truck took 26.129 gallons, meaning I had not used the full 33-gallon capacity. Based on my measured fuel economy, roughly 500 miles of practical range is achievable under similar driving conditions. One concern I had before purchasing was how the factory fuel gauge would work with the larger tank. It has actually been surprisingly accurate and useful. As an example, during my fourth cycle I stopped with the gauge around half after 249.6 miles, and it took 14.557 gallons to refillβvery reasonable for a 33-gallon tank. The biggest thing prospective buyers should understand is the DTE display. Donβt expect it to show 500+ miles after filling up. Mine generally shows a full-tank estimate in the mid-300s, so DTE does not reflect the tankβs true range potential. The actual mileage, gallons used, and fuel gauge tell the story much better. After four documented cycles, Iβm very happy with the purchase. It doesnβt improve MPGβit dramatically improves range and reduces how often I have to stop for fuel. My advice is to give the truck several fuel cycles before judging the DTE and track your actual mileage and gallons used. For me, the LRA 33-gallon tank was absolutely worth it, and I would purchase it again.

5/5 Stars βοΈ Ultimate peace of mind for long trips. Upgrading my Tacomaβs stock 18-gallon tank to LRAβs 33-gallon extended tank was worth every penny. Going from ~300 miles of range to almost 600 changes the game entirelyβno more constant gas station stops or sloshing jerry cans mounted on the rack. The craftsmanship on the tank is outstanding, and the install fits clean under the truck without compromising clearance. If you travel remote or overland. This is a must-have upgrade ποΈ

A long range fuel tank lets your truck or SUV carry more fuel, so you go farther between fill-ups. Long Range America makes two kinds: replacement tanks, which swap your factory tank for a larger one, and auxiliary tanks, which add a second tank alongside your factory tank. Both are popular for overlanding, towing, hunting and travel where fuel stops are far apart.
A replacement tank takes the place of your factory tank, so you get one larger tank and fill up as usual. An auxiliary tank keeps your factory tank and adds a second one, and you move fuel over with a switch when you need it. Which one fits depends on your vehicle; the Tank Type is listed in the Specifications on each product page. If youβre unsure, call us at (208) 481-4777.
Use the Factory vs. Long Range Fuel Tank comparison on this page to see your total gallons, then multiply the extra gallons by your miles per gallon. For example, 24 extra gallons at 15 mpg is about 360 more miles. Real range depends on your load, terrain, tires and driving.
It installs in place of your factory tank and holds more fuel, so you fill up and drive as you always have, just farther. Capacity, fill point and weight are listed in the Specifications on this page.

I love this tank. With 93 octane gas, my truck has over 550 mile range. I would have given 5 starsβThere is a big problemβand it is a well-known problem with 2025 and up model yearsβyou canβt reprogram the Instrument Panel Cluster module (IPC) as the instructions state. (Forscan) is supposed to be user providedβbut, every one in the know, knows it doesnβt work. Older trucks, and International trucks Forscan still works changing the capacity in the IPC. You have to change the tank capacity in the ECM and find a damned good tuner that can do it. If not, your distance to empty, miles per gallon, and empty warnings are all wrong. There is a guy in Texas, Stanghi.com that can tune the ECM, just like an engine tune, over the air on the HP Tuner suite. It works perfect after. I think the manufacturer should have mentioned this before I purchased. It was a royal pain to find somebody that could do it, and that shop above I think is the only shop that can do it as of yet.

Hi, iv'e had my fuel tank from Long Range America a little over a year. Iv'e filled up both tanks ( stock and auxiliary ) multiple times for trips. And i absolutely love it! I love the construction. Steel not plastic. And also the fact that i can transfer fuel while driving. I have a 2025 Jeep Gladiator and can get upwards of 650 miles per fill up. I would recommend "Long Range America" to anyone looking for auxiliary fuel tanks.

Very solid and well built tank. Installation instructions was easy to follow and straight forward. Over 30k miles now and no issues as long as the breather hoses are routed as per the instructions. The only improvement I suggest is to conceal the drain plug.

Purchased a tank for my Tundra. It is my primary road trip and camping vehicle. The stock tank required frequent stops for fueling up. With 37β tires and gear the fuel mileage wasnβt great. However nearly doubling my range with LRA it saved a lot of time on trips and peace of mind. Iβm definitely going to get one for my FJ80.

I purchased the 40 gallon main replacement tank for my 100 series Land Cruiser (LX470). I was impressed with the fitment and the packaging that allowed such a large tank to fit. I did find that the instructions were hard to understand and lacked photos. I did not know how to mount the additional bracket that bolts through the vehicle body. I ended up installing it in the wrong orientation and had to remove and reinstall the tank a few times before I figured it out.

Iβd recommend getting the exhaust pipe section heat wrapped that replaces the resonator next to the tank. On long slogs up a mountain I will boil the gas, unless I use ethanol-free.

The aux tank for my 4th gen 4Runner has been one of the best purchases I have made to upgrade my vehicle for traveling. I tow a trailer some of the time and the extra capacity is awesome, especially when travelling in areas with few stations. And the response and service I have received from LRA has been exemplary.

Had some issues with the installation of my LRA auxiliary tank with my builder who was not LRA. I called and talked to Aiden with LRA and he was brilliant. They squeezed me into their schedule and had my tank fixed and working perfectly in a couple of hours. FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. I love my LRA auxiliary tank, it is one of my favorite upgrades NO MORE ROTOPAX!!!

Game Changer. Gives me an easy 500+ mile range. No ground clearance penalty.

I had a 5th gen 4runner full armor on 33βs pulling a trailer. She was hungry. The LR tank was a game changer. I was no longer restrained to βany port in the stormβ on long trips, I could make smarter choices. Solid product, well thought out. I would recommend, and buy again if they offered one for a second gen Sequoia.

Like most people putting a long range fuel tank on their truck, mine is heavily modified. In order to fit the tank we had to make some adjustments to my MetalTech rear bumper and the Magnaflow Overlander exhaust. These weren't giant modifications, but some extra cutting a creative placement of things was involved. For example, we cut the exhaust to exit before the rear axle. It is definitely cooler and even further away from bottoming on something because of this - bonus! Keep in mind the LRA tank was built to fit stock equipment. Aside from that, it is nice to get between 450 and 600 miles on "1 tank" of fuel in a very heavy GX460 will a driver who thinks gas pedals should touch carpet. My truck lives in Vermont. It sees the absolute worst of road salt and the most extreme of weather temperature shifts in a year (-20F to 100F). So far, the tank has only shown slight surface rust around welding seams. That is easily fixable with some WoolWax. If you have a gas guzzling truck that gets angry when you pass a gas station, take revenge by getting an extended range fuel tank!

Amazing product. Installed the 37 gal tank on my 80. With the 1HDFT/H151 I get over 800 miles range. It is fantastic. I fill the tank in AZ or NV when driving home to CA. In 2 years the difference in price of diesel paid for the LRA tank by not filling it in CA. https://photos.app.goo.gl/OaywEMCS9z0jNLvO2

I purchased the extended range fuel tank for my 2021 Ford Ranger in March 2024. I had it installed by a shop and was told it was a fairly easy install. I love my fuel tank. I can get almost 650 miles on a single fill up, and it integrates with the OEM computer well. I took the advice from Khris and applied a bedliner to the tank before installation. I would definitely recommend that prior to every install. The product is holding up great after 70,000 miles with only minor scrapes and scratches to the bottom of the tank. The team was very quick to respond to my emails with questions about the tank, and the shipping was fast and packaged well. I would highly recommend Long Range America fuel tanks to anyone.

I purchased a Long Range America gas tank for my 2023 Silverado crew cab 4x4 short bed. I love the expanded driving range I have with my new tank. It makes trips to Montana easier because Iβm not planning fuel stops and watching gas prices. I fill up when gas is cheaper and if the truck is not going to be driven a lot for a few months I add some stabilizer. The tank is metal so you need to take precautions. The tank fits like a glove with Minimal modifications. I hope to figure out how to up date the gas guage next.

Great products. Purchases a LRA tank for my Grenadier in 2024, installed early 2025. Works great! Khris provides wonderful service.

The Ford Ranger Raptor certainly needs this long range fuel tank as the stock one is way to small for traveling

Love my new LRA tank in my Tacoma. The additional range opens up remote areas as well as allowing me to fuel up at better prices and get through areas that have insane fuel prices. This is the first upgrade you should do.

I installed the 33 gallon Long Range America fuel tank in my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. It was a bit challenging to install, but overall is absolutely doable for the hobbyist. I learned a few things about the fuel line setup and connections by removing the old tank and installing this one. I have enjoyed this fuel tank immensely. Now, I get to go down those off-the-beaten path trails and roads without worry. I used to go right on by, now I take them for an adventure. This fuel tank added more fuel at my instant disposal than I could carry in a jerry can in the back. Lastly, I worried that it may add weight that would affect my fuel economy, because I worry about those kinds of things. If this long range fuel tank affected my economy, I could not detect it; it simply removed range anxiety and that is all. Pro-tip: Be sure and have plenty of pure silicone dielectric grease on hand for the o-ring on top, for the electric plugs on top, and inserting and attaching fuel lines. This long range tank is worth every cent I paid for it. I thank all those who created it, constructed the one I have, and those who answered my phone calls when I encountered challenges installing it, because they were very helpful in completing this task.

You will not regret getting an extended aux tank. Fit perfectly on my LR4.

Just like every other Tundra owner, the 46 gallon tank upgrade was my first and best upgrade. Installed it myself in half a day but a month later the dealership had to drop it to do a fuel pump recall. I think they only charged me $200 due to the non-OEM tank which is incredibly reasonable. So it doesnβt void your warranty and it extends my non-towing range to 600 miles. Thank you LRA!!

Kit was complete and well thought out. Delivery from order to receipt was painfully slow but the staff in Boise was good about updating me and even upgraded my transfer pump. System works beautifully. The one issue I did have was the heat gun modification of the filler panel in the wheel well to clear the larger supplied fuel filler neck. There was simply no way to get enough of a bump to clear and mount up with the remaining holes. I wound up cutting the notch in the panel and fabricating an overlay out of silicone sheet using the factory panel and original mounting points except the one inaccessible due to the new neck. Very happy with it so far.

Love my tank. Doubled the range in my FJ40. Installation was simple and straight forward. Thanks LRA

Was the tank expensive? Yes. Do I regret it? No. I use the tank all the time on long trips and the piece of mind it brings makes it well worth it.

One of the best additions to my vehicle. Itβs been a very easy and reliable system to use. Having double the range has made my road trips across the USA more enjoyable.

Hearing about this company in many facets on different Tacoma Facebook pages in a positive light is extremely important! As a Disabled Veteran who spends his time in the woods I'm excited for when they come out for the larger tank size for the Gen 4 Tacoma so I can get mine installed xD

The LRA tank on my 100 series Land Cruiser has been a game changer, especially on our exploration of far west Texas. The ability to extend our range without carrying smelly Jerry cans has allowed to get into more remote country and get back safely. Love it!

Iβve been so impressed with LRAβs rank since it was installed. Itβs double the range of my Land Cruiser and is one of those things you donβt have to think about once itβs installed. It just works flawlessly. Iβve been blown away with the customer service too. Amazing communication and very accommodating. I canβt recommend LRA highly enough.

Excellent product - double your range, save time and hassle at the gas pump. This is one of those things you don't know why you didn't do sooner, and wonder how you went without. Only recommendation is add an option for a drain valve so you can drain fuel into a jerry can or something so you can run a small generator if needed. What are the thread sizes on the extended range tank to allow that? I paired this with the 80% off road spare tire relocation kit - again, flawless.

Amazing upgrade. Never worried about running out of fuel, fewer stops on long stretches (Canada, AK, etc...), awesome way to maximize fuel points, no more messy/heavy jugs....Just a perfect product.
